Our client, a Leading International Manufacturer of Fresh Prepared Foods is looking to appoint a Senior Raw Material Technologist for their site based in Nottinghamshire.  The site employs over 1000 people and supplies almost all of the major retailers so this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the premium, fast-moving chilled foods sector.

The role’s remit  is to ensure the Raw Material team is supervised and the function is kept up to date with agreed supplier documentation, audits and investigations, continually improving and developing supplier relationships whilst maintaining internal cross site working capabilities through agreed KPI’s. The role reports directly  into the Technical Manager

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage all aspects of the supplier approval process using the risk assessment process for all existing and new raw materials, including the management of trackers and databases for BRC/ISYS and Ethical Status
  • To ensure Raw Material Integrity is managed and that Supply chain mapping and Chains of custody are received,  up to date and adequate to comply with Group and Retailer codes of practice
  • Ensure appropriate and documented controls are in place to assure right first time delivery of all raw materials including clear and agreed specifications, confirmation of quality standards, and reviewed supplier performance
  • Establish clear quality specifications with all in process and finished product packaging materials to ensure quality standards are met and materials are sourced from suitable suppliers
  • Ensure that all customer complaints relating to suppliers are investigated and remedial actions are in place and implemented to the satisfaction of the business
  • Undertake supplier approval audits and supplier visits ensuring compliance to Bakkavor and retailer Standards
  • To conduct audits as part of the internal audit team

You must have:

  • Have a Technical background and understanding of food technology/components or possibly background within a QA role with chilled products
  • Ideally with supervisory experience
  • Good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to analyse information and accurately record or report in a clear and competent manner
  • Good IT Skills including Word, Excel, Access, Insight and Powerpoint
  • Problem solving skills
  • The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • A flexible business approach to the role and the hours required as dictated by the business needs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure

The role will be working Full Time and attracts a salary of £28-30k
