£55,000 - £65,000 plus package
Our client is a leading chilled food manufacturer with several sites across the UK, supplying to the major supermarkets and large independent retailers. Due to an internal promotion we are now recruiting a Factory Manager to take full responsibility for managing the manufacturing department and all team members on shift, reporting to the Site General Manager
As the Factory Manager will be responsible for the following areas;
•Ensuring that all products are manufactured according to specification.
•You will ensure that all production, technical and safety documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner; filed accurately and/or forwarded to the appropriate personnel.
•You will maintain an environment of continuous improvement, driving forward targets & performance levels
•Motivate Area Leaders and staff to achieve production targets
•Ensure Area Leaders and staff are aware of their duties and responsibilities and are trained accordingly
•Ensure accurate labour planning with full compliance to the ETI Base Code and ensure key positions are covered at all times.
•Liaise with the maintenance staff, identify and communicate machine problems as they arise, ensure effective action is being taken.
•Ensure all production control documentation and relevant paperwork is completed accurately and forwarded and filed as required.
•Ensure all work is carried out to specification using the correct quantity and quality of raw materials, to the right quality, to time and in a safe working environment.
•Identify and quantify problems caused by incoming materials, whether from external sources or from other departments within the factory or business.
•Ensure that hygiene rules and personal hygiene standards are followed at all times
•Ensure yield standards are met and factors affecting standards and costs are raised immediately
•Continuous improvements, identify and justify cost savings across the department
The Successful Factory Manager will possess the following skills & attributes
•Experience and competency in first line management in a production environment
•Proven track record of managing a large workforce within a chilled / ambient/ meat processing or short shelf life production environment.
•Understanding of practical application of H R processes and procedures including working practices pertaining to the site
•People management skills (e.g. counselling skills, training needs analysis)
•Planning and organising skills
•Interpersonal skills including the ability to evaluate and respond appropriately
•Communication skills, verbal and written including presentation skills and report writing
•Numeracy skills including basic data analysis and interpretation
•Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
•Ability to influence others
