We have an immediate requirement for an experienced Production Manager to join our client.

The role is days based Monday to Friday, although some flexibility will be required.

Production Teams, Supply Chain Teams, External Warehousing & Distribution, Customers & Customer Services, Sales Team, Technical/Quality & Hygiene Departments, Finance Department, Human Resource/Health & Safety, UK project teams.
To direct and control all Operational activities ensuring that performance targets (quantity, quality, cost, safety etc) are either met or exceeded.
Manages staff performance in the most efficient manner to meet with all prevailing Departmental & Business Key Performance targets, rules & regulations. (Examples include budget, Production throughputs, customer service targets, plant utilisation, Yields, Delivery Schedules, Stock Levels, HR/Health & Safety targets).
Manages operations in a way that best fits the business strategy and objectives, and is responsible for determining departmental strategy and objectives. To ensure that all activities within production are planned, organised and controlled to meet or exceed the targets set.
Responsibility for managing, leading and directing all staff reports and/or their teams. Manages all people matters, developing and supporting the team as appropriate e.g. motivating, delegating, performance management, coaching, appraisals, recruiting, and identifying & arranging job related and development training to ensure departmental compliance with regulatory standards, best practice, policies and procedures, Site Rules & Regulations or Company standards and to generate optimum efficiency and performance.
To ensure that factory production output is planned in accordance with business needs and that close liaison is maintained with customer services and planning to meet this objective.
To establish and monitor all aspects of production performance routinely (e.g. attainment to plan, yields, product quality, safety performance, service and operating costs etc). To investigate and remedy sub-standard performance. To ensure production reports are completed in an accurate and timely fashion
To maintain positive and effective working relationships within the factory organisation, with other Company functions and externally with customers and suppliers. To maintain constructive working relationships with representative bodies (unions, works councils, safety committees etc).
To ensure that food hygiene and safety standards are observed at all times within the production teams, and that monitoring systems (e.g. HACCP) are operated in accordance with specifications. To actively promote cost and quality awareness at all levels within production.
To ensure that health and safety at work requirements are identified, communicated as necessary and adhered to at all times within production. To actively promote safety awareness at all levels within the production teams.
To assist in the preparation of budgets, capital projects etc. in accordance with requirements. To develop performance benchmarking where appropriate and to actively promote a culture of continuous improvement at all levels within the production teams.
Work as part of the Site management structure in developing the site for continued success taking part in projects or project work as required. Contribute to the general management and decision making, and activity of the Site Management team. To support site wide initiatives and changes, in conjunction with the Factory Manager.
To ensure that employees under their control understand their responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy, communicating health and safety information to all employees under their control. All accidents, ill health or near miss situations arising out of work activity are thoroughly investigated, recorded and reported in compliance with the company reporting procedure.
Co-ordinate and ensure the provision of information and clear communications to appropriate stakeholders including Factory Manager(s) and UK Operations Management. Produce reports & presentations as necessary to meet with management requirements.
Deputise/cover in the absence of the Factory Manager as may be required from time to time. Lead & Co-ordinate appropriate audits and customer visits.
Undertakes training and trains others as identified by management for the proper discharge of duties or future requirements.
