Process Certification Officer

Salary: £25,000 / Location: Shrewsbury

We are currently working with one of the UK’s leading Organic control bodies who offers the opportunity to combine organic inspections with other key certification programmes, including BRC and farm assurance. You will have studied and obtained a degree in Biological Sciences or Food Technology and have a minimum years experience in a food processing environment to be considered for this role. An understanding of current food legislation and the organic food manufacturing sector would also be advantageous.

Job Purpose
To provide a professional and practical approach to upholding the integrity of the Standards across the relevant schemes operated by the company, through assessment of inspection reports and providing guidance with the requirements of the Standards in a clear, effective and timely manner. The role will also involve the promotion of the company to members of the farming community,renewable energy sectors and the public and others, with a view to increasing the businesses client base.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that client inspection reports are assessed comprehensively
  • Issuing Compliance Notices after report and document assessments
  • Provide a timely response to all enquiries from clients
  • Issue and sign Certificates based on Processor clients responses to Compliance Notices
  • Provide accurate technical guidance on the companies standards to all clients and others
  • Where Inspection Reports are deficient, write to the Inspector involved explaining the deficiency and where appropriate the action required
  • Act as the point of contact for all enquiries from potential clients and interested third parties such asTrading Standards
  • Update the main database to ensure records and notes are up to date
  • Approval of labels, packaging and marketing material to meet current legislation, in relation to the organic requirements
  • Liaise and support other business departments and organic inspectors
  • When sufficient knowledge has been gained, and after appropriate training, be able to conduct inspector training courses
  • Liaise with our Certification Committee regarding clients, as and when required
  • Withdraw Certificates if necessary
  • Liaise with other Sector Bodies regarding clients, as and when require
  • Provide accurate technical guidance on the businesses standards to all clients and others
  • Advise and facilitate the update of technical documents as and when required

Based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, you will need to have a diligent, dependable personality. This role would suit a candidate with previous Quality Assurance/Technical supervision experience. An excellent telephone manner will be required as 90% of your time would be spent dealing with calls.
Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm
