The company is part of a quality chilled foods group supplying to a number of the major retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and Morrison’s. It makes a wide range of chilled foods in well-invested sites that give its staff the facilities and environment to produce food to the highest quality and food safety standards.
With 13 direct reports, this role will be responsible for an extremely busy packing department where products are wrapped and packed before despatch. You will work to improve the effective, efficient and safe utilisation of labour, machinery and materials to agreed company targets and standards. This will include working with other Production Managers and functional managers to achieve department objectives.
In addition to working towards existing KPIs (such as labour costs and material variances), you will be responsible for a number of projects designed to generate improvements across the whole of production, which could include focussing on quality standards, capacity, machine utilisation, wastage, yield, labour deployment, health & safety standards and other measures.
We are seeking a committed and positive individual with previous production management experience within a chilled food manufacturing environment. You will have an excellent understanding of continuous improvement processes, be fully conversant with the cost elements of products; yields, throughputs, labour efficiencies and wastage plus possess a flair for interpreting data to optimise cost performance. You will also have a background in managing projects designed to generate improvements across the whole of production.
The Production Manager job is based in the East Midlands region and is paying £50,000. The working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm, however flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business.
