Senior Concept Developer

Operating 16 high-quality convenience food manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom and a further 7 in the United States, we employ more than 11,000 people providing a wide range of chilled, frozen and ambient foods to major retail and food service customers in the UK, the US and Ireland.
Working across two sites, Park Royal and Bow, you will take full responsibility for the development and introduction of new and/or upgraded product concepts. You will drive these concepts through the concept development process whilst ensuring that Technical & Quality standards are achieved and profitability is maximised.
To take full responsibility for the development of new & innovative products in line with product briefs. These must be commercial and work in practice.
*To drive & manage NPD workload using an NPD Plan, Bench-marking schedule, Clean Dec & Health plan to ensure that all developments satisfy price, quality, technical & operational parameters .
Modify existing recipes to the given requirements eg. upgrading, reducing cost, reducing salt etc.
*Work hands-on in the kitchen whenever necessary. Produce samples for internal & customer presentations new raw materials in line with preferred supplier & purchasing strategy
*Ensure that all recipes adhere to supplier & ingredient rationalisation strategy
*Work with suppliers to produce new & innovative ingredients
*To follow and police direct reports compliance (where applicable) to all NPD procedures and ensure that all work is correctly documented. Ensure that each stage of the process is correctly completed, documented & communicated.
Skills & Experience
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the food retailing market, eg. via trade press, food magazines & competitor shopping, to ensure development of cutting edge & market leading products.
*Drive benchmarking activity on a regular basis.
To have a strong awareness of consumer trends
Develop a strong relationship with your customer through constant communication by regular updates on projects and discussions on all issues throughout the concept development process
*Attend internal & external taste panels when required
*Attend weekly site development meeting
*Basic / Intermediate / Advanced Food Hygiene
*Minimum 3 years experience in an NPD environment in a FMCG chilled foods environment.
*Education to degree or HND level in a food related discipline eg. Food Science / technology, Home Economics, Catering etc
*Good project & time management skills
