Specification Technologist (12 month contract – possibly permanent)

The business is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of products to the food, beverage and nutritional product sectors. With extensive technical expertise and cutting edge facilities, they are equipped to respond quickly to customer demands and stay at the front of the ever changing market place.
Your role purpose as Specification Technologist is to maintain an accurate specification database and paper data systems, provide information relating to raw materials, finished products and processes and also to assist in other QC activities as required. You will complete final product specifications, maintain adequate specifications records to demonstrate compliance and meet customer needs, calculation of nutrition and ingredient declarations, respond to customer enquiries concerning nutrition, food labelling and current consumer concerns, implementation and maintenance of the specification database and maintain and update the Central file on approved raw material suppliers.
You will be either a food science, technology or similar graduate and/or have prior experience of working in a technical capacity in the food manufacturing industry – working knowledge of retailer finished product specifications is highly beneficial. You will also have good knowledge of basic labelling and food legislation, a general knowledge of nutrition plus possess competent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
The Specification Technologist job is based in the Home Counties region and is paying c. £20,000 according to individual skills and previous experience. This role is initially a fixed term 12 month contract, however the role may become permanent for the right candidate.
