Job title: Engineering Technician

Site: Cerberus Factory, Spalding

Salary: £36K - £38K (£4033 night shift allowance)

Hours of Work: Permanent Nights 22:00 to 6:30

(Flexibility to cover over shifts for annual leave or unforeseen circumstances would be beneficial)

Work Pattern:  Rotating Pattern

  • Week 1 Monday-Thursday
  • Week 2 Sunday-Friday

(Flexible to work days Monday-Saturday if required for shift cover/training to suit business needs)

About the role

As an Engineering Technician you will use both mechanical and electrical engineering skills/knowledge to maintain and enhance the performance of plant and equipment. Provide first class, flexible support to production requirements and factory services at all times. Train and develop appropriate production staff to deliver their first line maintenance objectives.

Comply with Bakkavor SHE and all statutory Safety, Health and Environment requirements. Ensuring accurate and timely records are entered/recorded of all work carried out, root causes of failures and of spares/consumables used.

Provide engineering support to production to ensure the efficient performance of all equipment. Ensuring operation and maintenance manuals, diagnostic instructions and special tools are readily available to all engineering staff.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a nationally recognised electrical qualification (minimum 2 year qualification) and mechanical qualifications. Previous maintenance experience, ideally within a food manufacturing environment.

You must be able to work effectively under your own supervision and as part of a team. Deputising in the absence of the Engineering Manager when required. Competent electrical/electronic fault finding and analysis skills with and understanding of PLC and computer controlled equipment.

Have a Flexible attitude towards work and during peak periods (i.e. Christmas) able to work extra/other hours as the company may reasonably deem necessary including weekends and nights.

Ideally you will have a time served apprenticeship with knowledge of steam boilers, steam systems and CIP systems but this is not essential.
