Blueberry Growing Manager - Hampshire - £35,000 pa + benefits

The Company

A successful, profitable and expanding organisation operating within the Produce sector. With a track record in supplying products to the major multiple retailers, this organisation has an immediate requirement for a Growing Manager with experience of working within the Agricultural, Horticultural or wider Produce industry.

The Role
The appointed Growing Manager will be responsible for all aspects of growing crops that meet the standards and specifications expected of the major multiple retailers. This will include quality assurance, crop husbandry, achieving production targets & goals in production and operational areas as directed by the Farm Manager.

The Growing Manager will support the Farm Manager and Technical departments, leading the development of the business`s agronomic capacity. Coupled with this you will also organise and deliver training to the Growing team, get involved with the co-ordination of Continuous Improvement projects and develop industry learning Growing systems and practices.

This role will require regular travel between multiple sites to assist in crop walking, fertigation, irrigation system management, pest control, crop spraying, crop rotation, demand planning and reviewing forecasted volumes against actual customer orders.

You will have exceptional communication skills and be comfortable delivering crop / yield plans in line with company/customer specifications, as well as experience of working to budgets and financial targets. The company expect the appointed individual to be the internal expert on Agronomy matters, and keep middle / senior management appraised on relevant Agronomy matters. The Growing Manager will keep up to date with new market developments and improved growing methods and will attend relevant training courses.

The Person

We are seeking to appoint an individual with an understanding of the Agricultural, Horticultural or wider Produce industry in a Growing capacity. Experience of managing teams and the ability to communicate at all levels is required as is knowledge of pesticide applications, irrigation control and harvest cycles.

You will hold a UK driving licence and preferably be in possession of a recognised qualification such as FACTS or BASIS.
