The Company

Newlyweds Foods is a BRC accredited market leading specialist manufacturer of coatings, seasonings and flavourings for the food industry supplying a diverse range of products to major manufacturers throughout the world.

The Role

We are looking for an effective Supply Chain Manager to join our Operations Team at our Ossett plant.  This role will be a fixed term 9-12 month Maternity cover contract. 

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and organised, a good communicator with excellent problem solving and number skills that is responsible for the effective management of our Procurement, Customer Service, Transport and Production Planning teams.  Whilst ensuring the highest level of Customer Service is maintained you will ensure Manufacturing costs are well controlled without negatively impacting on manufacturing or logistics.

Prime Responsibilities

  • Strategically manage the department in compliance with company’s policies and procedures
  • Provide objective overview for the whole of Supply Chain, assisting in resolution of problems, prioritising orders and materials to achieve the best order date without incurring excessive cleanouts or transport charges
  • Conduct Annual Personal Development Reviews to review performance and identify training requirements
  • Actively participate in recruitment activities, orient, coach and motivate employees
  • Monitor the accuracy of the MRP reports, researching the issues and communicating findings
  • Provide a point of contact for involved or escalated Customer queries or issues to swiftly resolve and provide root cause analysis where appropriate
  • Attend Customer Service reviews with customers to review service levels, stock holdings and general management of account
  • Assist QA with traceability and product quality as required
  • Inventory control
  • Prepare and submit monthly Corporate reports under a strict time window
  • Assist the planning team in the prioritisation of orders where required
  • Liaise with Production Management to ensure cost efficient running of the factory
  • Ensure that materials are on site to enable efficient planning and customer lead times are met
  • Monitor and maintain safety stock levels of all ingredients
  • Review and monitor slow moving lines, liaising with the commercial team as required
  • Manage the transport team to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Budget control
  • Adapt an ‘Always Audit Ready’ approach

    Personal Specification

  • Proven Supply Chain and Customer Service Management experience
  • Confident leadership skills and proven ability to manage staff
  • Self-starter with good communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Negotiation, delegation and problem-solving skills
  • Desirable knowledge of ERP systems, Transport, demand planning
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Computer literate
