Published: 20 Jan 2016
We are very pleased to announce that Hovis has been highly commended at the final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2015.
The awards, now in their 12th year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.
The event was held at Wokefield Park, in Reading and was attended by employer and apprentice finalists, representatives from the National Apprentice Service and the National Skills Council.
Regional Finals were being held all over the Country - Hovis were nominated in the South West, Thames Valley and Solent Region.
Various awards were given out during the evening, Apprentice of the Year in numerous categories, Best Big, Medium and Small Company of the Year, and we were nominated in the category of Best Newcomer 2014.
Only finalists were invited to attend and we had to get through various selection stages to get to the finals, the standards were very high and that in itself is a significant achievement!
We were recognised for our best practice approach to engineering apprenticeships and our approach to mentoring buddying and on site training, we recruited 14 new apprentices across the Hovis Business in 2014!
The people who attended from Hovis and collected our award were:
Ian Prior - Apprentice Mentor and Coach
Joe Hills, Engineering Apprentice from Forest Gate now Erith.
Nicola Duckham, L&D Manager
Richard Lygo, HR Manager
