Food Technologist Jobs within the food manufacturing sector are particularly specialist positions and ones that have become more in demand in recent years than any other food industry career. You may also work on newly discovered flavours or ingredients and hopefully create totally new recipes. Once this has happened, food technologists will then help design the whole process and machinery to make the new products in industrial quantities.

Jobs in food technology will almost always involve supporting technical / quality assurance teams to ensure products are safe and legal and the NPD department. It will vary from factory to factory so as your food technologist careers develop, you will also gain expertise in areas such as market research, engineering and even planning production.

As with most food industry careers, on top of the specialist qualifications and training, food technology jobs require skills desirable for most careers. These are likely to include high attention to detail, working on your own initiative as well as part of a team, high confidence levels to liaise with customers& suppliers and strong communication skills – verbal and written!
