Materials Planner – Food Manufacturing

Location: Leicestershire

As one of the most progressive businesses in their field, this medium sized manufacturer of chilled foods supply to a number of food service and retail customers across the UK. They now require a dynamic and forward thinking Planner. As an integral member of the planning team, the requirement of this role is to plan, order and maintain appropriate records of materials to ensure the manufacturing plan is met and ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved.

The Role:

  • Plan and order the relevant raw materials: make sure 100% supply is maintained and that wastage, stocks and courier costs are controlled within standards, conducting checks as necessary and challenging processes to reduce costs where feasible
  • Ensure the Bill of Materials is up-to-date and is checked against the system
  • Create and circulate the production plan to optimum efficiencies and labour plan incorporating all launches and upgrades as necessary
  • Participate and support daily production meetings, weekly NPD and as necessary to ensure effective production planning and smart problem solving with associated planning issues
  • Maintain and communicate accurate and effective documentation and reports
  • Report & action all potential & redundant stock

Knowledge and skills:

  • Proven manufacturing planner experience, preferably within a food environment.
  • Successful delivery of material management
  • Able to work under pressure and constantly re-prioritise, results focussed
  • Operate efficiently, coupled with attention to detail and good time management
  • Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative, challenges the status quo and is sensitive to the needs and demands on others
  • Good Numerical and IT skills
