Head of Sales – Dairy & Lifestyle Ingredients

Volac specialises in the development, manufacture and supply of high performance dairy products through two strategically linked businesses – Animal Nutrition and Human Nutrition. Volac operates four production facilities in the UK and five overseas sales offices in countries including Ireland, Italy, Czech Republic, USA and Australia. Along with these, three industry leading production joint ventures in Devon, the Netherlands and Malaysia also make significant contributions.
Over the next five years Volac are aiming to double in size to £500m. To achieve this growth, Volac is transforming the way it works. Along with this, specific appointments must be made to ensure the business can move forward in the most productive way possible.
Volac is already a successful business within the Dairy & Lifestyle Ingredients market. Following a recent internal restructure, Volac have recognised that they now require a Head of Sales who will take strategic control of their sports nutrition and dairy ingredients accounts, managing a team of 4 direct reports operating as Business Managers.
Reporting to the Director of Dairy & Lifestyle Ingredients, the principal accountability for this role will be to lead the sales function and its team towards profitable growth and customer management excellence. As a member of the human nutrition leadership team, the role will require not only the management and development of customer and internal relationships, creation of stronger customer management systems, people and team development, but also a significant contribution to innovation projects.
To be considered for this role you must have experience in B2B sales, ideally selling ingredients into sports nutrition manufacturers. All those with food ingredients industry experience will also be considered. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of both the European and preferably the Asian and American food ingredients market. You will have outstanding commercial sense and financial acumen, and it is essential you are able to demonstrate proven leadership capabilities, great sales skills and the desire to develop your team. Above all it is paramount that you are an excellent communicator and have a collaborative way of working, with the ability to strategically develop both external relationships and internal infrastructures.
