A leading chilled foods group is currently seeking a Commercial Controller / Head of Sales for their large, fast paced manufacturing site in the East Midlands. Reporting to the Commercial Director and managing a team of Commercial Managers, the successful Commercial Controller will be responsible for ensuring the site hits budgeted sales and profit target maintaining its dominant market share in their category. The Commercial Controller will ensure positive commercial relationships are maintained with the retail buyers and ensure the site delivers against its commercial KPIs.

The successful Commercial Controller / Head of Sales will have chilled own label experience as well as recent top 4 retail exposure. Strong people management and mentoring skills are essential as well as the ability to be hands on and lead from the front.

Commercial Controller / Head of Sales responsibilities include:

- Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of all aspects of the business and retail account.
- Support the Commercial Managers in the day to day management of their accounts.
- Draw up account plans (with support from the Commercial Managers) for each part of the business that are designed to deliver against company and retailer objectives and KPI`s.
- Take on the direct day to day management of any aspect of the account as required due to holidays/sickness or vacancies.
- Track performance against budget and have a regularly reviewed action plan to ensure the account hits/exceeds budget.
- Understand and build knowledge of major competitors.
- Liaise closely with Head of Insight & Category Manager to build a strong knowledge of market performance, category performance and key consumer measures. Use these statistics to gain a competitive advantage in category commercial negotiations.
- Build a strong relationship with the Category Development Manager to ensure viable products are developed that are profitable for the business.
- Develop a good understanding of site manufacturing capabilities and processes to assess potential impacts of any initiatives suggested.  
- Develop a sound understanding of the cost structure of products in order to ensure all opportunities to drive profitable sales are exploited.
- Draw up development plans for all team members and support their development through regular reviews.
