PRE BAKE SHIFT MANAGER
Monday - Friday
4:30pm – Finish
We are currently looking for a Production Shift Manager at Walker and Son.
The hours of work are as above however a flexible approach towards working hours is required as there will be a requirement to work overtime and weekends.
To effectively manage and direct all activities on the shift. To safely and efficiently utilise labour, machinery and materials to agreed targets to meet or exceed customer requirements. To liaise with other shifts, departments, functions as necessary to achieve this goal. To manage the bakery out of normal office hours.
You must have previous experience running a shift, be a stand-in Manager, Supervisor or a Team Leader who has clearly demonstrated readiness for the next level.
You will need to be fully conversant with the cost elements of products; yields, throughputs, labour efficiencies and wastage and possess a flair for interpreting data to optimise cost performance. Experience of stock taking would be an advantage.
We’re looking for a high degree of numeracy and analytical ability so competency in Excel and basic statistical functions is a selection criterion.
You’ll need to achieve or exceed the existing KPIs including labour and material variances, monitor absence, accidents and ensure adherence to CCPs through direct management and site IT systems.
Lean manufacturing skills would be desirable.
You’ll need to be a strong leader who commands the respect of the shift and wider colleagues. You will need to lead by example and challenge existing practices with a view to improving them and be a good decision maker under pressure in a standalone environment.
