We are a specialist chilled food manufacturer producing high quality innovative desserts for the Marks & Spencer customer. We are able to draw on over 100 years expertise of dairy management within our on site dairy which enables the site to process product effectively for the current day market. An exciting vacancy has arisen for a site Hygiene Manager. The successful candidate will manage Hygiene Line Leaders, Operatives and Cleaners. We are commutable from Bath, Bristol, Trowbridge, Yeovil and Taunton.
* To establish and implement the necessary policies and controls for maintaining the factory environment, in a clean and hygienic condition at all times. To provide an advisory service to all internal departments and customers in all matters relating to hygiene, including chemical supply and laundry services. * Working alongside colleagues in Technical, Operations and Engineering this role will be key to facilitating the production of clean, safe and quality assured food.
1. To positively direct and motivate the hygiene department to achieve their hygiene standards through effective training, appraisal and on-the job coaching and counselling. 2. To manage the scheduling of the team to complete all daily, weekly, monthly (and less frequent) environmental and equipment cleaning schedules. 3. To advise and audit the operations departments hygiene activities (currently clean downs and CIP between batches and utensil wash operations) 4. To have a detailed knowledge of all current food safety/hygiene related legislation together with any pending Acts, regulations etc. briefing management accordingly. Ensure adherence to legislation. 5. Through regular auditing and swabbing programmes, monitor the effectiveness of plant and equipment cleaning taking the appropriate action to rectify any problems highlighted 6. Control CIP programming and validation schedules 7. Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs 8. Identify training needs for site personnel and in conjunction with the HR department deliver appropriate internal and external training sessions 9. Determine site hygiene KPI's, monitor and drive improvements as identified 10. Represent site on all hygiene matters at times of audit, customer or enforcement authority visits 11. Monitoring site water quality taking corrective actions on those results 12. Effluent monitoring and building relationship with local water / environmental authorities 13. Maintain site Legionella controls with Engineering department 14. Ensure an up to date library of cleaning procedures for all site fabric and equipment 15. Ensure procedures and training in place prior to new equipment commission 16. Represent technical on site HACCP team 17. Formulate and manage the sites chemical, laundry and consumable budget 18. Ensure the health & safety of team members through compliance with safe operating procedures. 19. Advise on H&S aspects of chemical handling and cleaning operations for other site employees 20. Review performance of chemical and laundry service providers through regular communications, KPI measurement

* Experience of working in Hygiene within Food Manufacturing, probably chilled desserts * Experience of managing a team * HACCP qualification
