Who are we?
Cakesmiths are an entrepreneurial, successful and very well regarded specialist artisan cake business; leaders in the baking and supply of hand made coffee shop cakes. Based in Bristol, we are not the biggest, (and don’t aim to be), but we aim to be the best.
Having experienced outstanding and profitable growth over the past few years we are now moving to the next step with our management team. We supply a range of B2B, wholesale and foodservice clients and we are looking to recruit our first Commercial Manager, based in Bristol, to help the company achieve its sales and commercial ambitions.
What are we looking for?
Nothing but the best - an excellent, experienced, successful sales person with outstanding natural communication and negotiation skills and real commercial nowse.
You will need to be an outstanding salesperson in your own right, preferably with experience and contacts in frozen foodservice sales (wholesale and direct). You will be excited about selling great products. You will also have some general experience of purchasing and similar negotiations. You will be able to innovate and work under commercial deadlines with the smallest and largest food service customers in the UK. You will probably love cake.
As part of a very hands-on management team you will oversee both the sales and commercial function. You will need a full clean driving licence and to be able to travel throughout the UK. Your sales contacts will be live and excited to meet with you as soon as they hear about your new role. It goes without saying that you will have the genuine personal ambition required to develop both the role and yourself in short order and take this new role to the next step.
Your skill set will include core IT skills, excellent written and verbal communications and time management. You will also probably be a graduate level manager with several relevant years experience in food manufacturing.

What we don't need right now is desk jockeys, for-the-sake-of-it paper pushers, pot noodle-istas, Phillip Green wannabees, and slicker than oil salespeople. Thanks but no thanks. Been there; done that.
This is not an ordinary ‘sales’ job... we are looking for someone who gets the vision, who can walk the walk, be passionate and able to front up our business in the hard-nosed food world and is confident about paying their way in short order… it’s a real world! You would also have some knowledge of bakery products and want to bring so much more to this exciting business than a 9 to 5 mentality.
