Report to: Engineering Team Leader

Salary - £39,500 basic

This blue-chip food manufacturer are well known for their range of branded and own label products, offering a high quality service to retailers throughout the UK. They have grown substantially over the recent years and are now looking for highly experienced Engineers to join the business.

As the Shift Technician you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of key targets & plans, to achieve optimum productivity via the co-ordination and prioritisation of resources. Working closely with Engineering & Manufacturing Teams to deliver shared targets. 

Experience in a similar Engineering role within the food or FMCG sector is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Pro-actively assisting the Shift system co-ordinator to achieve, clarify & implement any corrective actions that are identified in the production & engineering log books
  • Assist in the delivery of all associated engineering priorities
  • Actively interact on a daily basis to understand & prioritise the production plan ‘v’ actual
  • Ensuring the adoption of safe working practices
  • To Comply with all aspects of  Maintenance Best Practice in all relevant areas
  • Assist in the delivery of Quality Critical PM & HACCP schedules
  • Assist in the co-ordination of  third party resource as necessary
  • Assist in equipment inspections to ensure conformity with H&S legislation & issuing updated documentary evidence
  • Assist all relevant departments in relation to continuous improvement initiatives / activities
  • Input into & supporting training needs analysis and subsequent training / development  solutions

Person Specification:

  • Experience working in a fast moving engineering role within a production environment
  • Demonstrable technical knowledge / understanding in appropriate equipment discipline
  • Ability to analyse problems strategically & analytically
  • In depth knowledge of engineering standards
  • Understanding of continuous improvement philosophies
