We are currently seeking an Abattoir Manager to work alongside the Management Team. This vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate within a fast paced environment.
You will lead, develop and motivate a team to achieve throughput targets and specifications and therefore you must have a competent knowledge of relevant slaughtering and animal welfare processes and a knowledge of relevant regulations. You will build and maintain effective working relationships with the management team, be able to work in a self-sufficient way, making best use of knowledge and resources available and ensure efficiencies are maximized to their highest potential at all times, using available resources.
Further responsibilities include to monitor, audit and check hygiene and health and safety practices to ensure compliance, ensure a relevant department training plan is in place, maintain legible records of training, audits etc. and manage others, including the handling of poor performance, absence and grievances.
We’re looking for someone who holds a full Slaughter License and a minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in leading and supervising people. Ideally you will hold an IOSH Managing Safely qualification, Foundation in HACCP Principles qualification and Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate as well as having previous experience of working within a fresh meat facility at supervisory level.
The ability to build and maintain key working relationships is crucial combined with excellent communication skills, problem solving and decision making abilities and you must be assertive, self-driven and Computer Literate as well as proactive and able to work using own initiative.
