Transport Manager - Berkshire - Salary £28,000 pa

Working 5 out of 6 days, flexibility required.

The Company

Established for over 20 years, this successful food import and distribution business are entering a period of growth and are looking to appoint an experienced Transport Manager to contribute to the next stage of expansion by professionally managing the Transport function.

The Role

This is a pivotal role within the Transport function and the individual appointed will manage a 25 vehicle fleet, consisting of company owned and also third party vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring service records, driver related issues and all departmental procedures are adhered to. There will be a further requirement to ensure all transport processes meets with the company`s safety, legal and operational policies.

The Transport Manager will assist in the optimisation of logistics planning and efficient working. You must have a credible knowledge of the issues facing the business in the short, medium and long term and will be able to motivate your workforce in overcoming them. You will be able to develop and deliver your own solutions and ‘lead from the front` whilst maintaining the company`s professional image. You will need to be able to provide a clear communication link between all parts of the business and be forward looking; anticipating future challenges and workloads within the Transport department.

A good knowledge of route planning and computer routing systems would be advantageous but not essential as you will be liaising with the planning department to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of goods in a multi drop / multi temp environment. Dealing with a varied array of products from Frozen, Chilled, and Ambient, you must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Food Safety and Hygiene regulations.

The Person

Applicants will ideally have experience from within the foodservice or food distribution industry. You will be an already established Transport Manager, however the business are willing to consider an experienced Transport professional with the right credentials seeking their first Management position.

You will be confident, self-motivated, resourceful and also have strong planning, man-management and problem solving skills.
