At Leeds Beckett University, food motivated students are given the opportunity to study a 3 year BSc (Hons) Nutrition (https://courses.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/nutrition/#Year3CoreModules) course. This specific course aims to give students an understanding of the factors influencing nutrition, alongside requiring two work-based placements in order to experience the wide variety of food industry roles available once students have graduated.

Throughout the 3 years of this specific course, students are taught a range of core modules all relating to the food sector. Modules include the Introduction to Nutrition, Food Science and Food, Health and Society. Alongside this, the invaluable work placement will provide students with a brilliant knowledge of what the food industry has to offer and will create fantastic links between students and companies for after graduation. Students of Leeds Beckett University has previously chosen placements within health promotion and research, or have decided to undergo their placement overseas in places such as the USA or even Uganda as part of the universities volunteering programme. Recent graduates of the University have managed to secure some excellent jobs within the food industry, Leeds Beckett University2including working within the NHS, Children’s Food Trust and the British Nutrition Foundation.

Getting involved with a sports club or society at University is a brilliant way to spend your spare time and meet people you share the same interests with. Societies at Leeds Beckett University are student-led activity groups, including anything from academic related activities, media, faith and culture, to societies based on your hobbies or political persuasion. Leeds Beckett has over 40 sports clubs, with around 85 teams competing in the league weekly. Whether it’s Netball and Football or Cheerleading and Handball, there really is something for everyone.

The Leeds Beckett Students’ Union also operate 2 venues across its 2 campuses – the City Bar and the Headingly Bar. Both venues are open during the day and right through the night, hosting a variety of events. Poetry evenings, band nights and society meetings are just some of the weekly Student Union happenings. The City Bar is used as a café and relaxing spot during the day, and turns into one of the University’s favourite club nights in the evening. Some of the most well known acts that have performed at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union; performances from Coldplay, the Foo Fighters and Radiohead are just a few.
