Since March 2006, Buckingham Foods Ltd has been a wholly owned subsideriary of Adelie Acquisitions Ltd, a company formed by Duke St Capital and The Food Investment Group. Buckingham Foods is one of the Top Five manufacturers of sandwiches in the UK.
The company started making sandwiches in a small way in the mid 1980s, when owned by Fitch Lovell Ltd. A purpose-built new facility was built at Redmoor, Milton Keynes in 1988 and a foodservice sandwich supplier called Eatfresh, with a factory in Tamworth, was acquired in 1992, when Buckingham was part of Booker. In 1997 Buckingham was one of five companies sold by Booker to Prize Food Group, which itself sold Buckingham to Adelie Acquisitions in 2006.
Buckingham Foods is a successful and profitable company in an exciting growth market, supplying major multiple retailers and a leading chain of coffee shops. With a sales turnover in excess of £60m and about 950 staff, both sites have been accredited as an Investor in People for more than five years. Constant efforts are made to establish best practice standards in communications, training and development and new talent is always being sought from outside.
