Our client is dedicated to providing contract analytical services for the food, pharmaceutical, healthcare and medical device industries and are looking for a Microbiology Food And Support Services Manager to join their team in Hampshire.
You will be required to manage 3 sections within the Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
• Overall management responsibility for sections.
• Management of staff including overseeing training progress and appraisals.
• Develop marketing strategy to promote new business.
• Liaise with Company Accountant to plan and set financial budgets for Senior Management.
• Undertake customer account price review and prepare quotations.
• Monitor supplies and negotiate best deals for consumables and services to maintain or reduce budgeted spending.
• Prepare or review reports for clients.
• Provide technical support for clients.
• Maintain regular dialog with clients.
• Maintain compliance with the Company Quality System (incorporating UKAS, GMP and GLP).
• Undertake technical review of internal documents.
• Review and prepare reports on proficiency, QC and validation schemes.
• Maintain current awareness of scientific and regulatory aspects relating to the food industry.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Essential
• Educated to at least BSc in life sciences (in Biology or related subjects).
• Good scientific background and experience applicable to food analysis and technology and environmental monitoring.
• Experience of working in a regulated environment.
• Demonstrable achievement in science-related business.
• Staff management experience.
• Ability to network effectively and gain credibility with scientific and business contacts.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
• Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Windows packages including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Motivational team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Customer focused and self motivated.
• Valid driving licence and own car.
Desirable
• Experience of ISO 17025 UKAS Accreditation or similar.
• Preparation of budgets or cost analysis.
• Knowledge of MS Access
Working Hours for this role will be Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm although you may be required to work additional hours depending on the demands of the business.
