Our client serves British growers by being a progressive facilitator of near-market horticultural research and development.
The SUCCESSFUL candidate will be responsible for:
• Be primary contact for the flow of technical information
• Organising and managing a technology transfer programme
• Providing information to levy payers and other members and ensure that the benefits of research are disseminated widely and reach as many growers as possible
• Ensure all activities are conducted in line with the Corporate Plan
• Produce communications strategies including research and non-research requirements
• Commission and oversee the internal and external production of technical publications
• Manage the production of other publications including; information leaflets, project indexes and computer manuals.
• Be responsible for the overall organisation of conferences, exhibitions, seminars etc. Liaise with collaborating organisations of joint events and distribution of publicity material
• Production, distribution and assessment of new media packages including DVD’s and computer models
• Oversee provision of information for our monthly journal News, including; events calendar, new projects lists and act as the designated sector contact for press enquiries
• Attend Panel meetings, prepare and collate information on all communications activities
• On an annual basis, analyse attendance, cost, % of the industry targeted and, where possible, effectiveness of all communication activities
• Prepare contracts for all types of publications and events, ensure contractual commitments are upheld and advise on penalties where necessary

The IDEAL person will possess:
• Technology transfer experience: Technical editing and event management
• Background or qualification in horticulture or a plant science
• Proven experience in publishing and editorial work
• Ability to liaise effectively with people on technical issues
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to proof-read publications with a high level of accuracy
• Computer literacy including a high degree of competency in Word
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, an eye for detail, patience, tact, sense of humour, ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
• Clean driving licence
