Our client is a market leader in the producing and processing of flowers and vegetables for export and their added value products supply markets in the UK, Europe and USA. They wish to source a dynamic, focused self starter who is able to underpin strategic business plans with operational best practice in order to create long term sustainable results.
Background:
Based in Kenya, this is an exciting new key position, recognizing the need for a senior Operations professional to guide their team in developing an integrated and sustainable operations strategy mainly within their flower business
The Job:
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will work as an integral part of the Executive team in order to strategically manage operations to maintain and increase stakeholder satisfaction in a sustainable manner. This will therefore entail:
• In collaboration with the regional teams plan, develop and implement operational strategy which aligns the companies business plans to best practice activities within the production and processing operations to deliver long term sustainable competitive advantage, growth and profitability.
• Through effective communication and mentoring, lead, manage and develop individuals and teams both within and across the regions.
• To contribute as a board member to the executive management of the company and to promote a culture that enables people to think, be stimulated and enjoy the association with the business for the long term.
The person:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications / competencies:
• A number of years of demonstrable senior operations or production management experience devising and implementing business-relevant strategy preferably at director level within a large company. The depth of experience and skills should be such that sound people and line management functional competence can be taken for granted.
• Self driven, reliant and motivated, being energetic and positive in outlook with hands on and energetic approach in seeing things through to completion.
• Highly numerate and computer literate.
• Experience in handling a multi-site operation with good project management skills.
• Able to structure a plan, marshal resources, work as a team and deliver on commitments.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills: persuasive and with the gravitas to gain senior management confidence.
