Health and Safety Consultants
As a health and Safety consultant you will conduct safety checks across a variety of industry’s to make sure that clients are complying with Health and Safety legislations, this position offers the opportunity to travel through within the role and work in a mix of locations.
Health and Safety Advisor/ Officer
Health and Safety Advisor’s often work closely with the H&S Team to offer advice and guidance. These positions are very ‘hands on’ and offer you the chance to gain experience at shop floor level.
Health and Safety Managers
As a Health and Safety Manager you will implement safety systems within the business. This role often requires you to manager a team and deal with colleagues at all levels.
CDM Coordinators
As a CDM Coordinator you will work with the CDM Reg’s to implement safe working systems often working with design teams and working both on site and in an office environment.
Hygiene and Environmental roles are closely related with Health and Safety within the Food Industry.

Occupational Health
Occupational Health Nurses and Advisors are becoming more and more vital to the running of businesses providing such services as Pre-employment screening, health assessments, absence management, health promotion and return to work assessments.
Backgrounds for employees working in this area are usually: Nursing (RMN/RGN), occupational therapy, physiotherapy or psychology. In addition Occupational Health usually
Roles within Occupational Health:
Occupational Health Technician:
Those working as an Occupational Health Technician will normally be qualified by experience and exposure to an occupational health environment. Within the role you will be involved in basic health assessments and will have qualifications in areas such as spriometry, auidometry, sight testing.
Occupational Health Nurse:
A qualified nurse with experience in occupational health nursing will be carrying out health assessments, at work and return to work assessments, pre-employment screenings. The nurse will also make recommendations and referrals to GP’s and to the companies they are working with.
Occupational Health Advisor:
Similar remit to the occupational health nurse but holds a specialist qualification allowing registration on the specialist nursing register. Will normally also carry sickness absence duties and will have ownership over the cases that they are managing seeing them from start to finish.
Occupational Health Manager:
Will manage the Occupational Health function and report to the Occupational Health Physician. The Physician will usually continue to perform clinical duties as well as managing a team of Occupational Health Nursing/Advisors.
Occupational Health Physician:
Will hold a minimum of AFOM (Associate Fellow of Occupational Medicine) and will be able to make full recommendations regarding treatment and assessment of employees. Will receive recommendations from Occupational Health Nurses/Advisors and will take all appropriate actions and make associated referrals.
